My new lab coat

I haven’t worn a lab coat for over 20 years. There just didn’t seem to be a need – either at the clinic or at the hospital. My patients tolerate my very casual attire which usually consists of leggings, boots and a shirt in the winter months and a comfortable dress and sandals in the summer months.  Unfortunately, the CEO of HEAL International has clearly indicated to me that there is a dress code when participating in HEAL activities. And apparently leggings are not part of that dress code! He implied I will need trousers. Trousers?? Who even says that anymore? And dresses need to be below the knees.

I think I can hear my mother laughing at my expense somewhere out there in the universe. Typically, I would have something to say about this expectation, however, I know which battles I need to pick. And this one, is not it. I am reminded of AJ’s comments to us when we would get our backs up against the wall and he would calm us down by saying ” is this the hill you want to die on?”. Nope! Instead. I purchased a new long lab coat which will keep me appropriately attired. And I better start packing all my below the knee dresses. But I refuse to go and buy any trousers.

On a good note, the CEO messaged me that the solar power system has been installed in the library/laboratory, and for the first time, the school has electricity.  Yes! No photos to show you yet, as no one there has a way of taking pictures. Soon, I promise.

I’m also getting excited now that I’m starting to pack and am looking forward to going to a place where it’s 20 above rather than below Celsius.
