We arrived into Entebbe airport last night and hit the ground running this morning to go shopping in Kampala for supplies for the laboratory for St. Lawrence Vocational Secondary School. The CEO of HEAL International apparently doesn’t believe in the concept of jetlag and taking it easy on the first day. He had set up a meeting with the owner of lab supplies store and I must say that, even in my sleep deprived state, I was able to concede that the visit was very productive.

AJ Bear with all the supplies packed.
We were able to inspect all of the supplies that the school requires for their biology, chemistry and physics science program. I realized that it has been a very long time since I was in a high school laboratory and kept on having to ask the names of the equipment that looked vaguely familiar to me. The Bunsen burner I recognized immediately, as it conjured up memories of my burnt bangs on the first day of my chem lab.

I can’t wait to see the faces of the teachers when they open up all the lab supplies. It will be a perfect valentine’s day gift for them and the students. Thank you to all the generous donors who have made this possible. And for those who are interested in naming the skeleton to be used for the biology lab, we have a special fundraiser event for the highest bidder. Personally I like Igor – but it’s up for grabs if you are interested. Pictures to be sent once he is assembled- and yes, it is a “he” as it definitely has a very android pelvis.
